 Energy Company Obligation

The second new government initiative, run in conjunction with the large energy suppliers, is the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. The primary objective of the Energy Company Obligation scheme is to provide heating and insulation improvements for low-income and vulnerable households, with a focus on those living in the bottom 15% of the UK’s most deprived areas.  The eligible energy efficiency measures for this type of ECO grant are Loft Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, Draught Proofing, Gas-fired Condensing Boilers and Heating Controls. This type of ECO grant is means-tested and to qualify you must meet the eligibility criteria. Please contact us and we will be able to give you advice on whether or not you meet the eligibility criteria.

If you do, we can then handle the application for an ECO grant on your behalf to make the process as simple as possible for you. The grant means that in most cases we will be able to install the energy efficiency measure for you, free of charge. There is likely to be an annual cap on this type of grant, so we advise you to act now whilst funding is available. A secondary objective of the Energy Company Obligation is to provide funding to insulate solid-walled properties and those with ‘hard-to-treat’ cavity walls. This type of grant is not means-tested but is designed to be used in conjunction with the Green Deal to make these relatively expensive energy efficiency measures cost-effective. Please contact us for more information on this type of funding.

You might be able to get help for energy-saving improvements to your home if you’re on certain benefits and own or privately rent your home.
